Record a lecture in the app, or upload a recording you already have. Upload a PDF or a text file. Paste a link to an article. Or write the text yourself. Whichever you choose, the app transcribes and orders it into a study note.
m4a, mp3, wav, flac, ogg, oga and webm, plus the video containers mp4, mpeg and mpga, from which the audio track is taken. Files may be up to 25 MB and two hours long. A recording of only a few seconds is refused, because there is not enough speech in it to make a note from.
PDF, and plain text files: .txt, .md, .csv and .json. Word, PowerPoint and Excel files are not supported.
Yes. During a recording you can drop a bookmark, type a note, or photograph the board. Each is kept against its own second of the recording, and the player takes you straight back to that moment afterwards.
Generate a quiz or flashcards from it, ask the chat questions about it, or play the learn games built from your material. The chat answers only from the notes you point it at, so it will not invent anything from outside them.
No. Hazelnote is available by subscription only, because every note, quiz and game costs us real money to generate. A free trial may be offered before your first payment; its length is shown in the app before you subscribe.
Subscriptions are held by the Apple App Store or Google Play, not by us. Cancel at any time in your device's subscription settings: on iPhone under Settings > your name > Subscriptions, on Android in the Play Store under your profile picture > Subscriptions.
Each account has a monthly allowance, and normal study use stays well inside it. Very heavy use may be answered more economically, and only in rare cases is generation paused until the next period. Reading and revising what you have already made is never limited.
No. Notes can omit or misstate something, transcripts can mishear a word, and quiz answers can be wrong. Check anything that matters against your original material, particularly before an exam.
Your account, your notes and your uploads are stored in the European Union. The AI itself runs in the United States: recordings go to OpenAI to be transcribed, and the text goes to Anthropic to be written up. Neither trains on your material. Our Privacy Policy sets out exactly what is sent where.
Refunds are generally not provided for unused subscription periods, except where required by law. For In-App Purchases, you can request a refund through Apple's reportaproblem.apple.com or Google Play Store within the applicable time frame.
Your notes, recordings and personal information are stored in the European Union and are only ever used to give you what you asked for. Please refer to our Privacy Policy for the detail.
Tap the settings icon at the top of the home screen, scroll to the bottom and tap Delete account, then type "delete" to confirm. Everything is removed immediately and cannot be restored. Note that this does not cancel your subscription: that has to be done in the App Store or Play Store.
